About Butch

Claude "Butch" Morgan remains a dynamic force in the Texas music scene, celebrated as a songwriter, storyteller, and guitarist. His musical journey began during the Vietnam War, where he played in various USO bands, and continued upon his return to the San Antonio area. Known statewide for his lead guitar skills and energetic performances, Morgan solidified his songwriting prowess at The Kerrville Folk Festival, being a finalist for New Folk in 2005 and 2008 and winning the Wildflower Performing Songwriters contest in 2004. He was also a “Singer/Songwriter of the Year” nominee at the Texas Music Awards in 2012.

Morgan’s 2013 album, "Dry," offered a deeply personal glimpse into his life and history. Co-produced with Chris Gage at Moonhouse Studio in Austin, "Dry" was recorded live with Trevor Doak Morgan on drums and Robert Robar Adams on bass. The album's stripped-down musical approach highlighted Morgan's signature style, weaving heartbreak, humor, smart lyrics, and elevating melodies.

In recent years, Morgan has continued to tour extensively, captivating audiences with his compelling storytelling and masterful guitar work. His performances remain a testament to his enduring talent and passion for music. He continues to create and share new music, connecting with fans both old and new, ensuring his legacy in the Texas music scene remains strong and vibrant.
